Cesare Maremonti
Cesare Maremonti is an Italian artist and architect born in Matera in 1966. His artistic vision is deeply rooted in the landscapes, history, and warm Mediterranean colours of Southern Italy, elements that continue to shape his creative language.
After graduating in Architecture in Florence, he expanded his cultural and artistic horizons through international experiences in Moscow and Amsterdam, engaging with diverse artistic environments that further enriched his practice. Over the years, he has developed a multidisciplinary approach that brings together painting, drawing, architecture, and experimental sculpture.
His work explores themes of memory, human relationships, and communication through a visual language that balances formal research with expressive freedom. Maremonti works across a variety of media, including oil and acrylic painting, freehand and digital drawing, and experimental sculptures in tuff stone, paying homage to the material heritage of his native Matera.
His works have been exhibited in Italy and abroad and are held in private collections internationally. Through his practice, Maremonti continues to investigate the dialogue between place, identity, and artistic expression, creating works that combine Mediterranean sensibility with a contemporary perspective.

Letters from the Sea is a reflection on the dialogue between North and South, between peoples separated yet connected by the sea. Rather than a border, the sea becomes a space of exchange, while its horizon transforms into a symbol of unity, linking cultures across distant shores.
